Two places to rest, between two mountains.
THE LODGES
Stay at either. Or follow the elephant from one to the other.
The elephant’s corridor runs north between Arusha National Park and Amboseli — from the forested foot of Mount Meru to the open plains beneath Kilimanjaro. We keep two places along it. Hatari Lodge anchors the south, where the Wondergarden practice began. Shu’mata Camp anchors the wild north, where the landscape inspired everything.
HATARI LODGE
BENEATH MOUNT MERU
A boutique lodge set among forest, crater and savannah at the foot of Mount Meru — once the setting of the 1962 film Hatari!, today the original base camp of the corridor and the place where Culinary Conservation began. Breakfast arrives with giraffes on the lawn. Kilimanjaro holds the horizon.

SHU'MATA CAMP
Shu’mata means heaven.
Seven tented rooms along a ridge beneath Kilimanjaro, looking out over Maasai land and the open elephant country of the Amboseli ecosystem — the wild northern anchor of the corridor. Endless horizon, unfenced plains, herds moving through beneath vast skies. Each tent is individually furnished in Maasai and North African craft, with an open-air shower to wash beneath the stars. A place not simply to stay, but to disappear into.
STAY
Seven individually furnished safari tents.

Ridge beneath Kilimanjaro · Enduimet WMA.
CAMP LIFE

PARTNERSHIP
With local Maasai communities, protecting the corridor.
THE FULL CORRIDOR
HATARI To SHU’MATA
Many guests do both – arriving at Hatari Lodge through Arusha National Park, then moving north along the corridor the elephant walks, out to the open plains of Shu’mata. South to north. Forest to savannah. Meru to Kilimanjaro. One journey, two homes.
Follow the elephant from one end to the other.
Your place is already here.
